Frightening the children

When your political viability depends upon creating legions of state wards, each of them dependent individually (or better yet, by identity group!) upon the federal for personal security and fiscal dispensation (from each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs), it’s best to start early. Thus:

A top Democrat told high school students gathered at the U.S. Capitol Thursday that climate change caused Hurricane Katrina and the conflict in Darfur, which led to the “black hawk down” battle between U.S. troops and Somali rebels…

Funny, I remember the history of the black hawk down incident somewhat differently, tremble, for my own part, at conflating the 1991 dissolution of the Somalian government with the genocide ongoing in non-neighboring Darfurstarting in 2003 and believe the verdict is not yet in on whether Hurricane Katrina had anything at all to do with climate change. But never mind.

To call this sort of thinking “muddled” is to do disservice leftmost tail of the intellectual bell curve. “Fantastic” might be a better description. As in “magical”.

Whatever gets you passed the finish line.
